While most drawings I create are done with about 80:20 graphite to powder pastel, this became my first piece drawn almost entirely with powder pastel. While still aiming for hyperrealism with such a different tool, I found a great gain was the gorgeous velvet-smoothness that pastel allows. In-person, the darkest darks in this piece hold a new kind of richness.
