About

"an illustrator and photographer, who practices floral design, tattoos in the free time... sometimes builds furniture."

On where to start, the question always feels like, “when did I become an artist?”... though it has been always. Calgarian, born and raised, I am a true-to-self Canadian visual artist, driven by my life experiences, and by the people I have crossed paths with along the way. At 21, I pursued my passion of fine arts and moved to California for one year to study the arts & expand my skills. Now, more than ten years later, this prairies girl is settled in coastal Vancouver as I continue to fully pursue an expanse of creative work, including (but never limited to) drawing, painting, muraling, installation design, photography, and floral design.

My main bodies of work are drawn realism, using a variety of tools such as powder pastel, graphite, and conté. The aim of my work is boldly simple: to create connections, & to appreciate the existing beauty on this earth. I insist on art that is undemanding, yet moving. I find rest in this, as it brings my focus back to what is simply good.

You’ll find more about my latest works under "On this Series”, but I will share this: Towards the end of creating the highlighted series, Therizō, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. It is new enough that it still feels odd to say. It is what determined the final three pieces, ‘Still I See Gardens’, which I imagine as a big loud shout of determination when my eyesight was failing me.

Sometimes things are a blur (quite literally), but still I see gardens. The outlook of my heart is inherently hopeful around this, despite what things sometimes look like (truly literally), and I feel it necessary to say: that despite the burdens that come (because they always will), we must be able to see beyond the grief of this world into the next, with hope-filled hearts, and move onwards.

I hope we can still see gardens (all of the beauty and all of the good) when we are faced head-on with trials. What a relief it is to do so!
